Drag me to hell

When was the last time you've seen a horror movie that in all its might tries to look serious but just ends up funny?

I downloaded Drag me to Hell earlier this week and watched it last night. The movie was Sam Raimi's epic return to the horror genre, and there I was for a few months, anxiously waiting and hoping that it was all going to be worth it.

Well, it was all worth it. The effects were stunning. The acting was unintentionally witty but deserves praise. The plot? Not so much.

How many ghost and horror movies can have a round-table-hands-tightly-held-together scene? More than a thousand already I guess. And this movie chose to be one of that.

What you don't want to miss though is the scene in the car where the movie was struggling to be really scary but ends up pleasantly funny.

Overall though, I would rate this movie as a 3 out of 5 stars. A fresh change from all that serious zombie biting movies that came out last year.

And why the hell is the title so gay?

Dubai Metro

Everyone in Dubai is talking about the Dubai Metro. The alternative to the traffic congested nightmares that are called Dubai high ways.

I'm sure that a lot of Filipinos like me are going to take advantage of this new means to get to work. I'll probably don't need it that much since I travel by car, but it's certainly very convenient if you can just take the train when you need to buy something in the mall. Talk about finding parking.

I bet there will be a lot of discreet encounters between discreet gay guys like us while inside the metro or the station, similar to what is common now in Manila and probably the rest of the world. It might be a bit different here since the culture is a bit closed minded, but if there's a will, there's a way.
